Fundamentals 4 – Drag Slide Single

The slide single is such an important element to our arm-drag series for our team. We often refer to this as the lowest risk way to aggressively shoot a leg takedown – because you do not risk being in the FHL if you fail. The safest takedown pathway is the snap-down FHL pathway, but the drag-slide single is a close second! This move allows us to bypass an opponent’s defenses who resists being snapped down to a broken posture, and instead of their head position uses their arms to push us away and has a quick sprawl. By swinging and sliding underneath them, we get so low that we can get lower than their sprawl and come up to our knees behind them!

Another nick-name we’ve had for this move on the team is “the slickster.” This move has been a comp. team staple that has withstood the tests of time!
